problematics of subject/object split

The new materialism recognizes the matter's "agentive properties" in difference to the old matrialist vision of "static nature of things".

Why is it more important to quarrel on who is right and who is wrong and how wrong s/he is, than to cooperate?
~ Race, gender and sexuality are socially constructed, yet there is a certain difference in the "nature" behind the sexes. ~

→ The importance of sex differentiation is itself Europocentric.
Critique of Pharmaceutical treatment of Depression of Wilson makes invisible other "stories", such as power relations and knowledge circuits. The feminist antipsychiatry discourse is much more complex.
"Climat Change" is framed from Science perspective. It makes no justice to social movements' work in production of knowledge and "materiality"
Eurocentrism in determinig what "Life" is.

New Materialism
Life is not a value neutral concept.
Culture / Nature split again!
In these examples, ‘‘sex,’’ ‘‘depression,’’ and climate change are reproduced/produced as universal natural facts whose
meanings are transparent and whose materiality is best accessed by Scientific disciplinary ways of knowing. We could speak of the material substance of such realities as sex, depression, and climate change as context-specific conceptual modalities with contingent materialities––as biopossibilities (Willey 2016a). The use of ‘‘material’’ to refer to the proper objects of Scientific knowledge-making as conceived by those disciplines that count is neither a practical nor rhetorical inevitability.
